Responding to Gov. Hochul’s State of the State, Libertarians denounce false promises
January 6, 2022 – BUFFALO, N.Y. – As part of her 2022 State of the State address on Wednesday, ineffectual proposals were made by Governor Kathy Hochul. She touted all the success that has occurred under her leadership since taking over for disgraced ex-Governor Cuomo, who resigned during a combination of sexual harassment scandals and nursing home scandals.
She explained how the next steps New York State will take to help lower-income families, small businesses, and health care workers are through government enterprise and investments from government programs. “When listening to Kathy Hochul, understand every time you hear the word invest, she really means taking your tax dollars through threats of violence, padding the pockets of the bureaucrats and officials who support her, and giving you table scraps as a pittance.” Erie County Libertarian Party Chairman and small government activist Duane Whitmer said. “She champions herself as solving all of the problems New Yorkers have to face yet fails to acknowledge who caused the problems. Who shut down small businesses, mom and pop local shops, while large corporations owned and controlled by the one percent remained open? These large corporations were allowed to flourish, grow, and succeed, while the middle and working class was left outside, more aptly locked inside their home. We witnessed one of the largest transfers of wealth from lower- and middle-class families to the wealthy during this lockdown.”
“Today, on January 6th, politicians will use their agenda and party line division to describe the event from a year ago. The left will call it an insurrection, a riot, a civil war, and the right will call it a peaceful protest. You see the roles reverse when it comes to the events the summer before. Both sides want to use it to fire up their fanbase, and get votes, but both sides fail to understand why the events occurred. People have been relying on politicians like Hochul, Biden, and Trump to solve their problems. In turn, these politicians have announced themselves as a savior of sorts, coming from the government to help. When the election is over, and the support never comes, people are left angry, frustrated, and lacking a way to express their disdain for the failures of a progressive government. These events will continue, if people believe that politicians are coming to save the day. Spoiler alert, they are not.”
