Criminals
The biggest criminal organization in the history of the world is the United States government. This is just a list of New York State elected criminals… or at least the ones who have been caught.

- Elliot Abrams (Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, 1985-1989). Convicted in 1991 for unlawfully withholding information from Congress during the Iran-Contra scandal.
- Lee Alexander (Mayor of Syracuse, 1970-1985). Convicted in 1987 of 40 counts of extortion, income tax evasion, racketeering, and conspiracy.
- Martin Auer (New York State Senator, 1973-1984) – convicted in the early 1980s of conspiracy and bribery
- Stanley Bauer (New York State Senator, 1951-1958) – indicted in 1961 of tax invasion and in 1968 of grand larceny and conspiracy.
- Brian Benjamin (Lt. Governor of New York, 2021-2022) – indicted in 2022 on federal bribery charges
- Mario Biaggi (U.S. Congress 1969-1988) – convicted of illegal gratuity and obstruction of justice
- William Boyland (New York State Assembly 2003-2014) – convicted in 2011 of bribery, extortion, and corruption.
- Frank Brasco (U.S. House 1967-1975) – convicted in 1973 of federal bribery and conspiracy charges
- William Brennan (New York State Supreme Court Judge 1970-1985) – indicted in 1985 of federal bribery charges
- Joseph Cassidy (Queens Borough President 1902-1905) – was accused of 47 counts of financial impropriety and 24 were upheld by Mayor Seth Low’s administration, but no charges were brought against him.
- Nelson Castro (New York State Assembly 2009-2013) – plead gulity to perjury charges in 2013.
- Chris Collins (U.S. House, 2013-2019) – charged of committing insider trading, in which he was also re-elected to the House, he later resigned and plead guilty of insider trading in 2020, although subsequently pardoned by President Donald Trump
- Andrew Cuomo (Governor of New York, 2011-2021 – accused of multiple sexual harassment claims and subsequently resigned from office
- Gloria Davis (New York State Assembly, 1981-2003) – plead guilty and served 90 days in jail for bribery
- Chaim Deutsch (New York City Council, 2014-2021) – plead guilty in 2021 of tax fraud
- Pedro Espada Jr. (New York State Senate 2009-2011) – in 2010 he was indicted on 6 federal counts of embezzlement and theft and in 2012 of federal corruption charges and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
- Dennis Gallagher (New York City Council, 2002-2008) – plead guilty to charges of sexual assult, rape in 2008
- Robert Garcia (U.S. House, 1978-1990) – convicted of extortion
- Gerald Garson (New York Supreme Court Justice, 1998-2003) – convicted in 2007 of bribery
- Henry Genet (New York State Assembly, 1868-1871) – convicted of fraud in 1873
- Efrain Gonzalez Jr. (New York State Senate, 1990-2008) – indicted in 2006 of mail fraud charges; while under indictment, he was re-elected to the State Senate in a landslide, plead guilty in 2009 and served 7 years in prison
- Diane Gordon (New York State Assembly, 2001-2008) – indicted in 2006 of 8 counts, including 2 counts of bribery, 2 counts of official misconduct, and 2 conts of recieving awards for official misconduct
- William Graham (New York State Senate, 1868-1871) – convicted in 1872 of fraud and embezzlement
- Roger Green (New York State Assembly, 1981-2004, 2005-2006) – plead guilty to petty larceny in 2004, resigned from office, was re-elected the same year, and served out his term
- Michael Grimm (U.S. House, 2011-2015) – in 2014, he was charged with 21 counts of fraud, federal tax evasion, perjury, and felony tax fraud; served 8 months in prison for tax evasion
- Dan Halloran (New York City Council, 2010-2013) – he was indicted on corruption charges in 2013
- Pamela Harris (New York State Assembly, 2015-2018) – plead guilty in 2018 of 2 counts of wire fraud, 1 count of making false statements, and 1 count of witness tampering
- James Hastings (U.S. House, 1969-1976) – indicted in 1976 for taking bribes; convicted later that year of mail fraud and filing false payroll information; served 14 months in prison
- Alan Hevesi (Comptroller of New York, 2003-2006) – charged with unlawful use of state employees in 2006 and plead guilty to corruption charges in 2011
- Alan Hochberg (New York State Assembly, 1970-1977) – indicted in 1976 for official misconduct; bribed his opponent to withdraw from the primary in exchange for a job
- Michael Hogan (Secretary, Collector of the Port of New York, 1930s) – arrested for extortion and bribery in 1934
- Shirley Huntley (New York State Senate, 2007-2013) – plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail faud and embezzlement
